The Destination

At Faraway Lapland Adventures, 75 km south of the Arctic Circle, Swedish Lapland reveals itself in its raw and pristine beauty: vast, untamed landscapes shaped by the elements.
Here, space and light stretch endlessly, where your only encounters may be a reindeer herd crossing a frozen marsh or the silent tracks of a lynx.

This unique latitude offers the best of both worlds: far north to witness the magic of a true boreal winter, yet enough south to enjoy long hours of soft light, even in January.

Our home is ideally located — just 1 hour 15 minutes from the regional airport (a short domestic flight from Stockholm) — and serves as the perfect base for all your adventures.

The region is vast, untouched, and invites you to slow down, disconnect, and rediscover wonder, away from the fast-paced rhythms of modern life

Your journey

Here's an example of what your adventure could look like - a sketch which we'll shape together to create your own unique stay

D1: welcome to the north

The journey begins the moment you step off the plane at Vilhelmina Airport. We’ll be there to greet you, ready to carry you deeper into the boreal world. The road winds through silent forests and by frozen lakes. If luck is on your side, a reindeer may cross the road in front of us.
Arriving home, the joyful chorus of our huskies announces your arrival. You settle into your warm, wooden nest, then gather around a welcoming dinner. Outside, the night is crisp and still; inside, the fire crackles—your first taste of Lapland’s gentle rhythm.

D2: And so the adventure begins

After a hearty breakfast, you slip into your warm winter gear, ready to embrace your first true day of adventure. Today you meet your team of huskies—eyes bright, tails wagging, eager to run. We show you how to harness, guide, and trust them. Soon the sled glides over white trails, your breath mingling with theirs in the icy air.
Back home, you treat your dogs to a yummy piece of meat and lunch is waiting for you outside, gathered around a fire beneath the snow-laden pines.
In the afternoon, the hum of a snowmobile carries you further—across frozen marshes, up to a windswept fjell where the trees give way to wide horizons. Up here, the North reveals its raw face: untamed, luminous, eternal. The day ends in warmth—an apéritif followed by an evening meal by the stove, stories shared as the night settles softly outside.

D3: The DOG SLED EXPEDITION

This morning the trail is calling. With your huskies harnessed and eager, you set out on a longer expedition. The sled cuts a path across frozen lakes and through whispering forests. Suddenly, silence breaks—a moose and her calves step across your track, their presence fleeting but unforgettable.
After twenty kilometers, a hidden cabin welcomes you. The dogs curl up to rest, while inside a fire roars to life and lunch is cooked over flames. In this simple, timeless place, the world slows down—you are part of the forest, part of the snow.
The afternoon brings more kilometers, more wonder. By the time you return home, cheeks flushed, heart full, the sauna is waiting. Steam rises, muscles relax, and the day closes in laughter and warmth over dinner.

d4: Ice and northern lights

This morning we head to a frozen lake with a tracked vehicle for an ice-fishing session. You drill a hole and drop your line. The world is still, except for the fire crackling nearby, the air so pure it bites your cheeks, your breath frosting your eyelashes. What will be the catch of the day - perch, pike?
After a nice lunch, the afternoon offers a peaceful husky hike, with your favorite four-pawed friend. Together you wander through silent woods.
Later, perhaps a sauna, a book by the fire, or a nap. But the day is not yet over. As darkness deepens, the northern lights steal the show, so we set out again, by snowmobile, toward a secluded spot. The sky shimmers. Time stops, and you are small beneath the vast northern sky.
Back home, if fortune smiled on you in the morning, dinner may even include the fish you caught!

D5: The Snowmobile Expedition

The snowmobile hums to life, carrying you further and faster into Lapland’s wild heart. Lakes stretch endlessly white, forests close in, and marshes lie frozen in silence. You move between speed and stillness, pausing to let the landscapes sink in—or to watch a herd of reindeer drift through the trees.
In the wilderness, you’ll learn to kindle a fire the northern way—using what nature provides. The flames will become the heart of our camp, where we prepare a simple, hearty lunch over open fire.
Afternoon leads you across new horizons—each turn revealing more beauty, more vastness.
You return home, cheeks glowing, spirit alive. Your last night is celebrated with a final feast beneath the stars, flames dancing in the fireplace, the North etched forever in memory.

D6: Final Embrace of the North

Your final morning arrives gently, breakfast warms you for the journey. If your flight time allows, perhaps a short snowmobile ride, a last embrace with the dogs, a final glimpse of reindeer in the distance, before it's time to go.
When time has come, the huskies await in greeting, the forest whispers its farewell. As we drive you back to the airport, Lapland lingers in your heart. You leave not with an ending, but with a promise: one day, you’ll return.

Who Are We?

Living our dreams in Swedish lapland, through our passion for the wild and the experiences it has to offer, with our 2- and 3.5-year-old daughters.

Julie

Born into a sled-dog pack, she learned to drive a sled as soon as she could walk. In love with nature, wide open spaces and animals, she thrives in the wilderness. After more than a decade holding consulting and strategy positions in large corporations, she decided to leave that well-paved path to follow her passion.
As a seasoned long-distance musher, she intimately knows the forces of the Far North, whether they reveal themselves in their dazzling beauty or their relentless harshness.

Raphael

A lifelong motorsports enthusiast, Raphaël grew up driven by adventure and adrenaline. After more than a decade in business development roles at major companies, he realized it was time to heed the call of the wild.
On a motorbike since the age of four, he has always had an instinctive ease with machines. Yet what makes him feel equally alive is the silence and raw beauty of the wilderness.

Our way of life

Together, we share a simple philosophy: to live close to nature, guided by its rhythm. Here, in Swedish Lapland, we share our daily life with a small kennel of Siberian Huskies who are more than just travel companions — they are family.

We love sharing and creating exceptional experiences for others. As your guides, we’ll take you into the heart of our passion for life in Lapland.

Our dogs are so much more than the love and energy they give us daily: they are true far North athletes. the only dogs in Europe to have completed the world’s three most demanding long-distance races, with Julie’s mother, Isabelle Travadon:
The legendary Iditarod in Alaska
The renowned Yukon Quest
The Finnmarksløpet in Norway, the toughest race in Europe

They have also shone bright on the tracks of the Grande Odyssée multiple times.

Most were born at home, each with their own quirks, strengths, and personalities. Pulling a sled is more than a task—it’s in their DNA. When they choose to retire, they enjoy a gentle, peaceful life with us, forever part of the family.
